Add in the idyllic beaches, the amazing underwater life, the beautiful street art, the fun beach bars, and the welcoming feel to the island. The tiny island of Isla Holbox has a great laid-back vibe to it. Holbox Town is a cute small Mexican town with restaurants, hotels for most budgets, and everything else you really need as a tourist.
Holbox is, in our opinion, the perfect size right now in and for the next few years. Two Holbox ferry companies run ferries daily from Chiquila to Holbox and back. There is a multitude of amazing street art for you to check out, as well as many fantastic local restaurants serving up delicious Mexican food. Holbox is a great place to visit if you want a relaxing Mexico getaway with the chance for some eco-friendly soft adventures.
Whale Sharks can be spotted during the summer months during their annual migration around the Yucatan Peninsula. Isla Holbox still remains largely underdeveloped. Visitors have to cross the Yalahau Lagoon via ferry to get to the island.
